Redeeming Childhood
A Soothing Landscape
We go to great lengths to create spaces where
kids who have been saddled with these painful,
unstable, adult situations can just be kids.
Nothing soothes a frazzled psyche like time in
nature. It allows the fear brain to take a break,
survival mode to shut off, and gratitude to kick
in.
Some of the best kid friendly features of our
homes include arcade rooms, playgrounds,
indoor and outdoor basketball courts, lakes,
teaching kitchens, chicken coops, and long
driveways perfect for bike rides and chalk!
That’s one of the reasons we choose rural
locations for our homes--we know sprawling,
rural acres of fields, trees, and lakes will bring
peace to our kids in the midst of their inner
storms.
Creating Felt Safety
When children need us, it means that terrible
things have happened to them. For them,
there’s a big difference between being safe and
feeling safe.
There are countless little details baked into
our homes designed to help make our kids
feel safe--like our open healthy snack pantry
for kids who haven’t been able to depend on
people to feed them.
