Freedom Fund Scholarship
Recipients
The vision of the National Association for the
Advancement of Colored People is to ensure a
society in which all individuals have equal rights
and there is no discrimination based on race.
To support this vision, the Chapel Hill-Carrboro
Branch of the NAACP awarded scholarships to
five high school seniors selected from the four
high schools in the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City
School System.
The scholarships recognize academic achievement,
civic engagement, leadership qualities, and strong
character. The four-year scholarship award is in the
amount of $1,000 the first year and is renewable up
to $500.00 each year for a maximum of three
additional years or the attainment of an
undergraduate degree.
Recipients of the NAACP Scholarships emerge from
a competitive application and interview process
demonstrating the potential for ongoing success.
