KCKPS’s Commitment to
Family Advocacy
The purpose of Family Advocacy is for teachers to build
meaningful and lasting relationships with students and
families while teaching social-emotional character
development and college and career readiness
standards. Teacher advocates will authentically
understand their students’ interests and backgrounds,
producing a climate of acceptance and building a sense
of community within their advocacy group.
LOOKING AHEAD
Through this collaborative process, students can build an
authentic relationship with their teacher advocates, which
in turn supports them in building skills to navigate the
global world around them.
Parents and guardians will be committed partners in a
student’s planning for life beyond high school. This
process is to be reviewed as a collaborative dialogue
between teacher, student, and parent/guardian at least
two times per school year.
