New York City Ballet Principal Dancer
Megan Fairchild joins us in conversation
with Steven Caras (photographer and
former NYCB dancer) to discuss her
recent book The Ballerina Mindset:
How to Protect Your Mental Health
While Striving for Excellence. Fairchild
knows very well how to juggle many
responsibilities such as holding the top
rank with the largest ballet company
in the U.S. and being a mother of three
all under the age of four. She does all
this with grace and kindness and her
infectious humor will inspire ballet fans
and those new to the art form alike.
Alexander Hamilton’s life reads like
a Shakespearean tragedy, from his
struggles as a child in the West Indies
and the loss of his family, to his early
demise from a duel. Yet, it was also
triumphant and, against all odds, he
emerged as a leading force during
the Revolutionary War, Constitutional
Convention and America’s founding.
Go behind the scenes to learn surprising
and inspiring aspects of the great
founder’s life and stories that set
the context for the major scenes in
the musical.
The Kravis Center, in collaboration
with the Mind, Music and
Movement Foundation for
Neurological Disorders, presents
this one-day conference featuring
nationally recognized researchers
and leaders in this field: Brian
Harris, David Leventhal and Susan
Magsamen. The event will focus on
how the arts measurably change
the body, brain and behavior,
improve physical and mental health,
amplify the ability to prevent,
manage and recover from
diseases and more.
