PALM BEACH SYMPHONY
The Carnival of More Animals
October 6 • Friday at 10:30am
DREYFOOS HALL
Performance Length: 45 minutes
Recommended Grade Levels: K-8
Suggested Curricula: Music, Science
The Carnival of More Animals is a fun and unique children’s concert
to be performed by Palm Beach Symphony and conducted by Music
Director Gerard Schwarz. Joining us for a newly created narrator role
is Forrest Galante, television star and acclaimed animal conservationist,
educator, and American outdoor adventurer. Frenchman Camille
Saint-Saëns (1835-1921) composed “Le Carnaval de Animaux” (The
Carnival of the Animals) in 1886, and it has been a long-cherished work
for children and families ever since. While the original version is for
a small orchestra featuring two pianos, our arrangement created by
our beloved music director, Maestro Gerard Schwarz, includes a more
expansive array of instruments, providing students the awesome
opportunity to see the full complement of instruments that are in a
symphony orchestra. Instead of the animals in Saint-Saëns’ original
work, Palm Beach Symphony’s version incorporates over a dozen of
Florida’s indigenous animals. Our boisterous narrator, Mr. Galante, will
lead audience-goers on an engaging, fact-based educational journey
while visuals of these animals are projected on-screen. We have
partnered with Busch Wildlife Sanctuary in Jupiter on this production.
Join us for this inspiring STEAM production.
