BOTTLES + BEES | THE BUZZ OF SUSTAINABILITY IN ACTION!

When it comes down to it, winemaking is an agricultural endeavor. We
are farmers at heart and the quality of our wine is dictated by the health
of our vineyards. As stewards of the land, we are constantly looking for
the most climate friendly methods to ensure a sustainable future and
protect our natural resources.
Lighter Glass: Good for People, Good for the Planet!
Beginning with the 2022 Sauvignon Blancs and Semillon, you’ll
be seeing lighter bottles in your wine shipments. Did you know
that the manufacture and transport of wine bottles contributes
up to 50% of wine’s carbon footprint? Heavier bottles not only
equate to more energy consumption and greater fuel costs, but
they’re just that – heavy! The move to lighter glass will have
positive impacts across the board, creating less strain on our
staff from lifting wine cases and gradually saving on shipping
costs for our Liquid Assets members. Now that’s a win-win!
What’s the buzz at Chambers Vineyard?
Bee pollination at our estate Chambers Vineyard property in Santa Rosa, CA.
In support of this, we are focused on finding ways both big and small to
put mother nature first. While this is an ongoing effort, two of our
projects received the green light this spring: lighter bottles and bees!
Bzzzz. Hear that? It’s the sound of 6.2 million bees making
themselves at home in Chambers Vineyard! For the second
straight year, we’re partnering with Tauzer Apiaries to host
honeybees at our special estate property. Not only do these
honeybees enhance the biodiversity of our land, but they also
play a crucial role in pollinating our cover crops, increasing the
organic content of our soils and the overall health of our
vineyard. As a top pollinator to many of the plants we require for
sustenance, bees are also necessary to our survival as a species.
Pretty buzzworthy if you ask me!
