Roy Bryant Robinson Jr
March 1, 1938 - October 10, 2018
Roy Bryant Robinson Jr was born March 1, 1938 in Thomasville, Thomas County,
Georgia to the late Roy Robinson Sr and the late Elizabeth Hayes Robinson. At an
early age, he and his family relocated to Florida where he attended school in the
Hillsborough County school district.
Upon graduating from Don Thompson Vocational High School, he attended Fort
Valley State College on a Basketball scholarship. After graduation, he was
employed by the Bibb County School System where he taught and coached at Peter
G Appling High School from 1961-1970. After desegregation, he moved to Lanier
High School where he taught and coached from 1970-1972. He later received his
Master’s in Education with concentrations in health and physical education from
Georgia College in Milledgeville, Georgia. While working towards his Masters, he
was recruited to be the head basketball coach.
After coaching, he pursued his entrepreneurial interest and owned the Royalex
Lounge with AC Habersham from 1974-1977. After which time, he relocated back
to his home town of Tampa, Florida where he lived and worked for over 30 years.
During that time, he held Various positions with the Tampa Housing Authority,
City of Tampa Recreation Department, Hillsborough County Sheriff’s office and
Hillsborough County School District. After retiring he returned to Macon, Georgia
where he lived for the last nine years of his life. He united in fellowship with
Union Baptist Church under the esteemed pastorate of Reverend David I Stanley,
