To our Parents and Community Stakeholders,
I am excited by the Victory in Progress taking place in the Bibb
County School District! We have one of the most innovative school
districts in the state, from our award-winning incorporation of PBIS
(Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) and The Leader in
Me framework, to our goal of outfitting every classroom in the district
with the latest in 21st century technology. And, it’s not just our state
recognition that has me excited! Did you know two of our schools
have been recognized nationally? Carter Elementary and Skyview
Elementary Schools have been recognized nationally as Title I
Distinguished Schools!
Indeed, it is an exciting time to be a part of the Bibb County School District! Much of the innovation in
our schools could not have happened without the generous support of our community and business
partners. Your support in renewing the Education Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (ESPLOST)
in 2019 will allow us to ensure every child has access to the same high-quality technology at each
school throughout the district. Following the implementation of video cameras and audio technology in
every classroom, the next phase will be providing one-to-one technology for students. These technology
improvements will support our goal of creating a rigorous learning environment and ensuring students
are prepared for college or career after graduating high school.
ESPLOST funds also have been instrumental in allowing us to move forward with our plans to build a
new Northeast High School / Appling Middle School Complex in East Macon. Northeast High School
opened in August 2019 and the new Appling Middle School will open in August 2020. Rileydale
Elementary School also will open in August 2020, as will two new auditoriums at high schools in the
district. It is my belief that every student deserves to benefit from the numerous and diverse educational
opportunities offered by the Bibb County School District, no matter their location or situation. These
new facilities and the implementation of technology in every classroom have helped us to create equity
for all students, so thank you for your support.
I look forward to partnering with each of you in our effort to develop our students into successful
members of our community – students who understand the value of leadership, scholarship and
citizenship.
Victory in Progress Continues,
