made the buzzy instruments since 1999,
shipping nearly a million of them every year
to lucky lips around the world. You can learn
the history of this wacky music-maker and see
kazoo collections during your free museum
visit. For a small admission fee, join one of
the hour-long guided factory tours—offered
four times a day—for a behind-the-scenes
peek at kazoo-making in this crazy, colorful facility, culminating in a custom-made
kazoo just for you!
FIVE ONE-OF-A-KIND GEMS THAT OFFER
UNFORGETTABLE EXPERIENCES
By Gail Westerfield
Many of South Carolina’s charms are obvious: its
tremendously rich cultural history, its fine arts and
artisans, and the spectacular natural environment,
to name a few.
But what if you’d like to add a little quirkiness to the
mix, discovering some experiences that you simply
couldn’t have anywhere else? Here, some of the
greatest treasures lie just off the beaten path.

MICE ON MAIN
We mostly tend to avoid these whiskered,
cheese-eating critters. But there’s no more
delightful way to take in Greenville’s Main
Street than by following clues to the locations of nine darling bronze statues. The
scavenger hunt for the small creatures was
the brainchild of a high school senior and
a local sculptor, and captivates visitors of all
ages year-round.
