Cabinetry Basics
Overlay Information
The overlay of a cabinet is a measure of how much of the cabinet door rests on top of the cabinet frame.
This distance is measured from the inside edge of the frame to the outside edge of the door on the hinged
side. The reveal of a cabinet, is the remaining amount of visible face frame. Below you'll find our
measurements for our different overlays.
Traditional Overlay
On cabinets with Traditional Overlay, the Cabinet Doors overlay the face frame by 1/2″, leaving a 1" reveal between the outside
edges of the door(s) and the outside edges of the frame, with a 1/2" reveal between the drawer front(s) and the door(s).
