Philippians
L I V I N G F O R W H AT R E A L LY M AT T E R S
What do our lives say about what we think really matters? We
glorify busyness—and yet we also acknowledge that hustle leads
to burnout. Our mantras are progress, not perfection and my
current situation is not my final destination, yet we feel hopeless
and pessimistic when life isn’t “how it should be.”
But what if it’s only pointless hustle that leads to burnout?
What if struggle can be valuable if we allow it to lead us to growth
and depth? What if trading likes and approval for authenticity
actually leads to joy?
The apostle Paul understood struggle better than almost
anybody. But when he was in prison, when we’d expect him to
be broken and depressed, he chose a different path: he wrote a
letter to his Philippian friends, focusing on their flourishing with
a spirit of thankfulness, generosity, and joy and seeking to build
them up. He spoke authentically about the real stuff of the life of
faith, helping them (and us) see what really matters in life.
As we journey through the book of Philippians together, we
learn how to intentionally develop lives that make a difference—by
growing deep roots and blossoming in the midst of our struggle.
Let’s get to it!
Take joy,
