are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their

Who do we think we are? We believe the Bible is God’s true message to us all. For years we have read the Bible to understand what
it says about sex, we’ve read what the best theologians and biblical scholars believe the Bible teaches, and we’ve looked at what the
church has taught consistently about sex.
All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for
teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in
righteousness, that the man of God may be complete,
equipped for every good work.
2 TIMOTHY 3:16-17
We want to give you our best understanding of what God has said
in the Bible about sex. So let’s talk about sex!
Sex was God’s idea. In the beginning, after God made everything
­else—­sun, moon, stars, mountains, sky, plants, birds, f­ish—­God
made a man and a woman. Sex was very much a part of creation
before God made people: There are male and female plants, fish,
birds and bees, and b­ easts—­all these living things reproduce through
some form of sexual uniting. The Bible says God told nonhuman
living things to “be fruitful and multiply” (Genesis 1:22)—­that
means sex.
But sex was and is special for humans. At the end of the first five
days of Creation, God looked out on what he had made and saw that
it was “good.” That included the sexuality of all living things.
