vagina and clitoris. In some teenage circles today, oral sex is becoming more common and isn’t regarded as “having sex.”
There are other and more twisted ways people engage in sexual
acts. We call all of this sexual intimacy. You can see how, as a couple
goes from kissing to intimate touching to oral sex and even beyond,
the intimacy gets deeper and deeper and that they share more and
more of their bodies.
What does God think of such sexual intimacy? The Bible gives us
guidance, specifically some positive principles and some warnings.
For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain
from sexual immorality; that each one of you know how to
control his own body in holiness and honor, not in the passion
of lust like the Gentiles who do not know God. . . . For God
has not called us for impurity, but in holiness. Therefore
whoever disregards this, disregards not man but God, who
gives his Holy Spirit to you.
1 THESSALONIANS 4:3-5, 7-8
“All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are helpful.
“All things are lawful for me,” but I will not be dominated by
anything. . . . The body is not meant for sexual immorality,
but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. . . . Flee from
sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside
the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his
own body. Or do you not know that your body is a temple
of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You
are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify
God in your body.
