INTERNATIONAL DIMENSION IN SCHOOLS BY
BRITISH COUNCIL (IDS)
At K.R. Mangalam World School GK-II, we are committed to constantly inspiring our students
to not just survive but to thrive with passion and compassion, to brim with generosity and
kindness, to contribute towards making the world a better place for one and all. There is a
global dimension to every aspect of our lives and communities. Sustainable development isn’t
just about the environment and it isn’t something that we can achieve in isolation. The air we
breathe, the food we eat and the clothes we wear link us to people, environments and
economies all over the world.
At KRM, we recognise that all actions impact people throughout the world and that the
solutions to many global problems, whether climate change or inequality, are more likely to
be realised through genuine understanding of all cultures and our mutual interdependence.
Therefore, we have embedded an international dimension to the school curriculum which
enables children to recognise their contribution and responsibilities as citizens of this global
community.
For several years we have enjoyed working on International projects with partners overseas
and have received accreditation from the British Council in recognition of our commitment to
Internationalism. International Dimension in Schools (IDS) is a benchmarking scheme that
accredits school as having an outstanding level of support for nurturing global citizenship in
students and enriching the teaching & learning experience. We are proud to share that our
school has been successfully awarded with the coveted International Dimension in Schools
(IDS) Accreditation thrice by the British Council. Embedding IDS in our curriculum has
ensured improvement in linguistic skills and research skills which will help them to further
grow as leaders in the global community.
We aim to:
•
to further embed global dimensions within the school’s internal and external curriculum,
engaging students to celebrate their own cultural identity and to foster respect for other’s
cultures, languages and religion.
•
to create opportunities for pupils to visit other countries and learn about other cultures
•
to welcome visitors from other countries into the school
•
to enable staff to benefit from professional development opportunities in other countries
