THE POLICE FOUNDATION ADVANCES PROGRAMS THAT PREVENT VIOLENT
CRIME, THWART TERRORISM AND SAFEGUARD THE PEOPLE OF OUR CITY
The Foundation is committed to funding programs that help to keep New York safe. For
over 35 years, the Foundation has funded the Crime Stoppers program which rewards
members of the public for anonymous tips which lead to the arrest and indictment of
violent felons. In the past year, the maximum reward paid out by the program was raised
from $2,500 to $3,500, providing a critical boost to this invaluable crime-fighting tool. To
date, over $2.7M in reward funds have been distributed, leading to over 3,500 cases solved.
The Foundation also supports the NYPD’s Counterterrorism operations which are among
the most comprehensive in the world. Through the International Liaison Program, the
Foundation makes it possible for NYPD Intelligence Officers to be stationed in cities
around the world where they can gather information on international counterterrorism
efforts and report in real-time to their counterparts back home.
The New York City Police Foundation’s support
of the NYPD continues to advance our efforts in
preventing violent crime and staying up-to-date on
emerging trends in terrorism, essential to keeping
our citizens safe.
