comment periods expressing continued support for the
petition and the continued allowance of pullulan. This public
process led to a Final Rule that was released on Friday, June 25
(effective on July 26), marking the successful completion of a
three-year project!
The Organic Trade Association extends a special thanks to
the members of the Dietary Supplements Council and the
Pullulan Task Force. The addition of pullulan on the National
List will prevent widespread disruption and economically
significant damage to the organic supplements sector and its
raw material supply chain, and it will support the on-going
commercial development of certified organic pullulan that is
highly sought by the supplement sector.
The trade association and its Council will continue to
advocate for its ultimate goal of the commercial development
of USDA certified organic pullulan and USDA certified
organic vegetarian capsules.
Gwendolyn Wyard is the trade association’s Vice President of
Regulatory and Technical Affairs.
