Sentence Completion Series

Identify underlying areas of distress
Sentence completion techniques have long
been used for psychodiagnostic assessment because they are quick, adaptable
to a range of concerns and settings, and
readily acceptable by most clients.
The SCS is a semiprojective method
of gathering information that has
clinical utility alongside interviews and/
or formal testing. It is not intended
for use as a psychological test.
It features 50 content-valid sentence stems
that assess eight areas: adult, adolescence,
family, marriage, parenting, work, illness, and
aging. Eight forms allow multiple form usage
to maximize the breadth of information.

Assess negative thinking patterns
How people think about themselves
can often impact their functioning.
Dysfunctional thinking patterns like
low self-esteem, self-blame, and
feelings of negativity and hopelessness
can have clinical impacts that
lead to anxiety, depression, anger
and aggression, and more.
The CDS is a standardized, multiscale
test that assesses cognitive distortions.
It measures a range of cognitive
symptoms not tied to a traumatic
event, including self-criticism, selfblame, helplessness, hopelessness,
and preoccupation with danger.
It’s applicable for a variety of
clinical problems to help clinicians
gauge level and frequency of
dysfunctional thinking patterns.
