Assess risk of violence
In today’s world, threats of violence are
taken very seriously. But how can you know
if someone who makes a threat could—or
would—follow through? Past violence could
indicate risk, but there are other variables
including psychopathological disorders,
substance abuse, and high arousal states.
Working with at-risk individuals in correctional, forensic, and psychiatric settings
could put you or your staff at risk. You
need to know if your patients and clients
have the potential for violence so you
can take precautions and be prepared.
The HCR-20 Version 3 provides a comprehensive set of professional guidelines for the
assessment and management of violence
risk. It helps you determine the presence
of 20 key violence risk factors so you can
develop appropriate risk management plans.

Being incarcerated is one of life’s most impactful events and can lead to disruptive and sometimes violent behavior. What if you had access to a tool that
provided insights so you could assist your client in avoiding further troubles?
The PAI-CS generates an interpretive report that identifies
offenders’ risk of institutional misconduct during incarceration, describes offenders’ psychosocial needs, and estimates
how offenders are likely to respond to incarceration and
rehabilitative programs.
