RIAS™ -2
Reynolds Intellectual
Assessment Scales™,
Second Edition
Cecil R. Reynolds, PhD, and

Assess intelligence
thoroughly and quickly
When you test your students’ intelligence, you want to use thorough,
reliable, and fair instruments so you
can get the most accurate results
possible. Your students—and their
parents—depend on you to make
informed decisions when considering
diagnoses such as intellectual disabilities
and determining classroom placement.
Intelligence tests that rely on motor coordination and reading skills and feature
items that introduce cultural or racial
bias can be inherently skewed. The RIAS2 was developed with these concerns in
mind, resulting in a test of intelligence
that is less confounded by nonintellective
factors and thus more precise.
The RIAS-2 features:
• Low emphasis on motor coordination
demand and reading
• Updated item content
• Normative data based on 2012 U.S.
Census statistics
• Two supplemental speeded processing
subtests
• Ability–achievement discrepancies
with the Academic Achievement
Battery (see page 43)
