Welcome
Thank you for choosing Phoenix Rising FC
Youth Soccer (PRFCYS). The PRFCYS
community strives to provide the best quality
experience for you and your child. As in any
community, we have some basic expectations
and guidelines for all our members (parents,
players, and staff) to uphold. This Player
Handbook will help to outline these basic
expectations.
Please take time to read through this
Handbook as it will provide you with useful
information to ensure you and your child have
a positive, enjoyable, and successful
experience as a member of Phoenix Rising FC
Youth Soccer.
Introduction
“RISING AS ONE” is not just a hashtag or a
catchy slogan on a t-shirt. This is the driving
principle of the merger of Phoenix Rising FC
and the oldest, largest youth soccer club in
Arizona, Scottsdale Soccer. The two entities
merged in 2018 to create one organization
with a pathway from our youngest
recreational pre-kindergarten players all the
way to the highest level of professional soccer
in Arizona. We intend to rise as one Club and
would like to invite you and your family to join
us.
Scottsdale Soccer grew from humble
beginnings in 1977 in the Arcadia
neighborhood of Phoenix with several teams
formed by a few parents who had a love for
the game and limited opportunities for their
kids to play. In a few short years, the Club
(known then as Arcadia Soccer Club) had
grown large enough to run its own selfcontained recreational league and began to
select competitive teams to travel.
By the time Scottsdale Soccer merged with
Phoenix Rising FC, the youth Club had grown to
more than 6,000 players from age 4 through 19.
We currently have 6 regions that offer
competitive soccer: Desert Foothills, North
Valley, Prescott, Scottsdale, Southeast Valley,
and West Valley.
Phoenix Rising FC Youth Soccer’s mission is to
help develop physically and emotionally sound
youth through soccer. We emphasize player
character, commitment, and self-confidence as
a lodestar for all our efforts. Youth soccer
provides a vehicle for children to develop in a
positive, safe, and creative environment. Players
are encouraged to find their personal best while
also contributing to an endeavor bigger than
themselves. We ask all of our players, parents,
and staff to be part of our team, Club, and
community.
Success in competition is one of the
benchmarks we use to gauge our competitive
teams but is certainly not the only marker of
success. This success can come in many forms
including, but not limited to, winning matches.
Our most successful results come through the
development of players as individuals and as
part of our team, Club, and community. Other
milestones of success come in the form of
community engagement, philanthropy, and
inclusion.
