TX College Guidebook - Spring Semester 2019 - Page 100

Our Campus Guides are launching pads for your exploration
Since our Campus Guides are limited to one page, we design them to be a “launching
pad” to the most significant and helpful sites you need in exploring a university.
With an interactive guidebook, we are able to directly link you to the most accurate,
comprehensive sites that will provide you with the every available statistic for a
university (College Navigator), as well as an easy search (BigFuture).
Best sites to search & compare data
As you probably already know, it is easy to find online
profiles of colleges and universities. In fact, there are
too many. Some sites are simply created to generate
traffic and revenue.
These websites receive our highest endorsement:
BigFuture by the College Board
College Navigator by the U.S. Dept. of Ed
College Scorecard by the U.S. Dept. of Ed
Don’t worry about missing out! The other sites simply
repackage the official data from the College Navigator
-- The National Center for Education Statistics (NCES)
and university websites.
Best source for official, accurate data
Although not as visually attractive as BigFuture, the College Navigator is absolutely
the best source for college information. In fact, it is from this source that most college
profile books and websites gather their data.
All colleges and universities are required to report accurate and timely information to
The National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), a division of the U.S. Department
of Education. Much of this information is then sorted, organized, and presented to the
public on the College Navigator website, which is managed by NCES.
