University Systems & Affiliations
TX Public University Systems
The State of Texas has six public university systems. Within each system, institutions
remain separate and distinct entities. As stand-alone institutions, each school has
different admission requirements and confers their own degrees. It can be easier,
however, to transfer between universities within one system because they do share
goverance at the highest level. Four public universities are independent of any system.
TX Private Univeristy Affiliations
With the exception of Rice University, every private college in Texas has a religious
affliation. The affiliations are provided in the banner heading. One should not assume,
however, that schools with a religious affiliation all practice their faith with the same
devotion. You should take time to explore their websites and visit the campuses.
