ETA 2021 Strategic Plan - Flipbook - Page 55
Conclusion
Breaking Barriers: Cutting through Crises
with ETA’s Updated Strategic Plan
In this timely and important refresh to our Strategic Plan, ETA has further defined and
solidified the challenges we face via fresh initiatives that focus on what needs to be done
to ensure a clean, affordable, equitable energy future. We are excited about providing
the data and research to build a more resilient nation and infrastructure; ready to face
the Climate Crisis head-on; already hard at work securing the nation’s clean water supply
through innovative approaches; and perhaps most importantly, we are dealing with the
question of short- and long-duration energy storage because that provides the foundation
for this economy-wide transformation.
Meanwhile, we continue to dedicate ourselves to helping the U.S. Department of Energy
accomplish its scientific mission, supporting the State of California in its ambitious
scientific research and deployment goals, and growing our already strong relationships
with our industry partners. We are reducing the amount of time it takes from getting a
great idea out of the research lab and into the marketplace by investing in clean energy
entrepreneurs and connecting them to the unique assets at Berkeley Lab and across the
national laboratory complex.
Furthermore, we’re continually cementing our relationships and consortiums with the
nation’s 16 other national laboratories, as well as solidifying our academic linkages,
especially with the University of California, Berkeley, where many of our researchers also
inspire countless students every day, cultivating a rich and diverse pipeline of early career
researchers.
Yes, we are reinventing, reimagining, and repurposing much of what we do — in order to
not only meet but exceed the challenges of the bold initiatives outlined in this ambitious
and updated Strategic Plan.
Sustainable, secure, efficient, and prosperous: that is the future ETA imagines for our
nation and our planet. We are committed to turning that vision into reality.
