Letter from River Edge CEO:
Dr. Shannon Terrell Gordon, LCSW, CFRE
During the extended season of challenge caused by COVID-19, River Edge
healthcare heroes have never missed a beat serving our communities. Because
River Edge acted quickly to expand telehealth infrastructure as well as
consolidate and streamline operations, access to either face-to-face care or
telehealth options across our footprint 24/7/365 has been maintained – even
expanded – through the protracted pandemic.
As a result, River Edge healthcare heroes have saved hundreds of lives and
supported meaningful lives of recovery, inclusion and contribution.
As the pandemic appears to wind down, River Edge sets its sights on building
new pathways of recovery and support. Won’t you join us?
Truly, together, we make life better.
River Edge Foundation Chair:
Meet Amy H. Maley, CFP ®, CPA
More than a decade ago, visionary community leaders wanted to create new
resources to support neighbors with intellectual and developmental disabilities to
live meaningful community lives and to support friends with mental health or
substance use challenges to achieve and maintain recovery. In 2006, these
leaders formed the predecessor of River Edge Foundation.
In 2014, the Governing Board of Trustees of River Edge Foundation clarified the
organization’s purpose: Share the River Edge story of hope and inspire giving to
make life better. Too, these Trustees adopted and defined guiding values:
Advocacy, Entrepreneurial Spirit, Excellence, Stewardship, and Fiscal Stability.
The Board of Trustees proudly announces election of the 2021 Chair, Amy H.
Maley, CFP ® ,CPA, a Vice President and Wealth Management Advisor with
Merrill Lynch.
Amy says, “Serving on the Foundation board is important in order to develop and steward the assets of the Foundation so
that River Edge can enhance and improve the lives of individuals served. River Edge helps individuals succeed in recovery so
they can live their best lives. Also, River Edge supports individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to
experience the rewards and esteem that community participation and employment provide.”
Amy explains the investments of her time and treasure this way, “Now more than ever, stigmas surrounding mental health
challenges and substance use disorders are being lifted. People are more freely sharing their stories. As a result, we realize
we all know and love someone experiencing these challenges who could benefit from River Edge services.” Amy finds it
rewarding to know River Edge uses her gifts to provide life-enhancing treatment and supports for individuals served. Amy
says with animation, “Hearing the stories shared by so many people who are thriving because they were served by River
Edge touches my heart! Their stories galvanize my desire to assure the resources needed to ensure many more can benefit
from River Edge.”
Many individuals River Edge serves benefit greatly because of Amy Maley’s investment in the mission. Thank you, Amy, for
your gifts of time, talent and treasure to help make life better!
