Modern financing for modern farmers
RVC offers nontraditional alternative financing options
Chris Green, Ag Finance Director
With the anticipation of tighter
margins on the horizon for many
farmers, River Valley Cooperative
is looking to the future to leverage
accessible financing options for
member-owners.
River Valley Cooperative, in part
with the Cooperative Finance
Association, has created a program
to enhance our farmer members’
bottom lines and make exceptional
financing programs available.
River Valley Cooperative is excited
to unveil the Advance for Inputs
Powered by CFA (AFI) to growers
this year. AFI is a program unlike
any other that’s currently offered
through River Valley Cooperative,
and should be considered before
purchasing inputs this fall. Designed

to free-up operating cash, lock-in
crop input purchases, and pay after
harvest, this program gives growers
a cash flow advantage. River Valley
Cooperative is excited to bring the
innovative program to the farm gate
this year, especially as growers look
for places on their balance sheets to
cut costs.
Advance for Inputs Powered by
CFA will allow farmers to finance all
of their inputs up to $350,000 when
they purchase from River Valley
Cooperative at 0% fixed interest rate
until December 31, 2021. AFI will
allow the farmer to maximize their
cash discounts on seed, chemical,
and fertilizer and pay no interest
on that money until after harvest in
2021. In order to qualify for the 0%
fixed rate, growers must buy their
chemicals, fertilizer, seed, and sell
grain through River Valley Cooperative. Additionally, grain can be
delivered to a River Valley Cooperative elevator or sold as direct ship to
an end-user.
River Valley Cooperative and the
Cooperative Finance Association
have been working together for
more than 10 years. The Cooperative
Finance Association (CFA) is an agricultural finance cooperative based
in Kansas City, where River Valley
Cooperative’s CEO Tim Burress
serves as the board secretary. CFA is
an industry leader in offering product financing and low interest rates.
CFA provides quick credit decisions,
and most of the documents can be
completed digitally.
