CHOICE. We all know the meaning
of this word, and for those of us
working in agriculture, I think we
have a deeper understanding of the
impacts choice makes in our daily
lives. As I begin to write this article
detailing River Valley Cooperative’s
2021 seed strategy, I think about the
times we didn’t get to choose the
events that happened thus far in
2020. We didn’t choose COVID-19,
and we didn’t choose to have a
derecho sweep across our trade
area. Even with all that we have
dealt with in 2020, resilient farmers
will look to the new year and begin
planning for the next crop. The seed
choices that are made now will set
the stage for 2021.
The single thing that excites me
most about our seed strategy for
2021 is that River Valley Cooperative has the unique ability to offer
every choice that is available in the
industry.

• If you are looking for elite corn
hybrid germplasm from Bayer and
Corteva, we have it!
• If you are looking for top-yielding
genetics for Enlist soybeans, we
have them!
• If you are looking for corn traits that
have industry-leading rootworm
protection, we have them!
• If you are looking for varieties in
the XTend or XTendFlex herbicide
platform, we have them!
• And, if you want conventional
hybrids for those non-GMO acres,
we have them too!
Our 2021 Soybean Portfolio offers
many choices so you can select the
trait that is best for your farming
operation. Our strategy is to help
you understand the benefits of all
the herbicide platforms available on
the market, and once the trait choice
is made, help you choose the best
genetics for your operation.
Our soybean lineup for all traits is
unmatched, as River Valley Cooperative also has choices. We are able
to select the best genetics from the
companies we work with, which
include Asgrow, CROPLAN, Brevant, and NK. These brands source
varieties from the leading genetic
companies in the world, and we are
proud to offer all of them as part of
our seed portfolio.
Our 2021 Corn Portfolio also offers
more options than we have ever
had in the past. We proudly support
the genetics developed by Bayer
through our DEKALB and CROPLAN
branded hybrids. These genetics
have provided us with exceptional
yield and agronomics with every
hybrid developed. We expect great
things out of our 2021 lineup, which
includes over ten new hybrids across
all three trait platforms. In addition
to our Bayer genetics, we are happy
to be able to offer elite genetics from
Corteva as well. Brevant is a new
