In 2008, River Valley Cooperative entered the
Illinois agriculture market with a commitment to
providing the same dedicated service that Iowa
member-owners and customers have grown
accustomed to for over 100 years. Over the past
12 years, River Valley Cooperative has worked
tirelessly to keep that commitment with a “boots
on the ground year-round” philosophy and
whole-acre solutions.
Since its initial mergers with Cooperative Gas &
Oil and Gateway Co-op, River Valley Cooperative
has steadily grown its footprint in the Illinois market with facility updates and expansions along
with two new state-of-the-art agronomy centers.
The Camp Grove agronomy center opened in late
2019, with a similar facility in Kasbeer slated for
completion late this fall.

Early in 2020, the opportunity arose to purchase
Michlig Grain, LLC, headquartered in Manlius,
Illinois, with facilities located in Deer Grove,
Bradford, Sheffield, Cambridge, Mineral, and
Broadmoor. With its seven grain facilities located
directly between River Valley Cooperative’s new
Camp Grove and Kasbeer locations, Michlig Grain
was a perfect fit in so many ways.
Tim Burress, River Valley Cooperative CEO,
explained, “Having the ability to bring together
two dedicated employee teams, shared culture,
and values, along with financial stability, was a
tremendous opportunity. This partnership, along
with our recent agronomy facility expansions in
the area, has further enhanced our commitment
to serving customers in our Illinois trade area.”
