DAY Five: December 02 - Friday
Hope and…Patience
“‘The days are coming,’ declares the Lord, ‘when I will ful ll the good
promise I made to the people of Israel and Judah. “‘In those days and
at that me I will make a righteous Branch sprout from David’s line; he
will do what is just and right in the land. In those days Judah will be
saved and Jerusalem will live in safety. This is the name by which it will
be called: The Lord Our Righteous Savior.’” Jeremiah 33:14-16
Biblical hope is not about certainty as it is about pa ence and
an cipa on. When God makes a promise, He keeps it. But His promises

Think about wai ng for a “to
go” order of food. You place
the order, pay for the food with the expecta on that the order will
soon arrive. Some mes it doesn’t (It is a fallen and imperfect world
a er all.). In fact, some mes it takes a very long me and our pa ence
is sorely tried. We wait. We wait some more and look at our watch.
Our emo onal temperature begins to rise and the seed of giving up is
planted. We wait a li le longer and with the further delay of receiving
the food, we leave the restaurant in a hu and a vow never to return.
And typically, as we drive o , our name is called as the food is bagged
up ready to go. And we missed it.
