DAY Nine: December 06 - Tuesday
Joy
Peter speaks of an “inexpressible and glorious joy” that comes into the
heart of God’s people who have not seen Jesus, but love Him all the
same (I Peter 1:8). This joy comes as a gi . It is the product of good
invading all the broken places in the human heart.
When the angel appears to the shepherds (we will think of them later
in the month) there is a speci c message. “Do not be afraid,” said the
angel. The shepherds, who have never seen an angel, have been
overcome with a great (literally
“mega”) fear. They will not hear
the message unless the angel
Once in our world,
addresses them rst. The angel
con nues:
a stable had
something in it that
was bigger than
our whole world.
“I bring you good news that will
cause great joy for all the
people. Today in the town of
David a Savior has been for to
you; He is the Messiah, the
Lord.” Luke 2:10-11
-C.S. Lewis
The tone of this moment in
history is JOY! The celebra on of heaven spills over onto earth as a
mul tude of angels appear saying:
“Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on
whom His favor rests.” Luke 2:14

Ba le). Sit in silence with those words for a moment. Re ect.
