DAY Ten: December 07 - Wednesday
This name tells us something very important about God-the-Son
incarnate. God came to be with us, not far from us. And the life work of
Jesus was to ensure the with part was permanent. Paul writes: For if
we have been united with Him in a death like His, we will certainly also
be united with Him in a resurrection like His (Romans 6:5).
Immanuel is a precious name. It is in Immanuel/Jesus that we see God
for Who He really is. The universe is not cold, empty and vast. It is
friendly. The God Who is with us is the God Who is for us. We need not
wake up in the night punching our pillow in dread.
Immanuel is for us. Immanuel gives us hope. Love has a name.
