A king, in the Hebrew mind, received authority to ensure that God’s
people were located in shalom. Shalom is not just peace in the absence
of war, but about ourishing, wholesomeness, harmony and wellbeing. This was God’s inten on as humans inhabited the earth.

Jesus is the “Mighty God” Who comes to destroy the works of the devil
(I John 3:8). In the synagogue of Capernaum a demon-possessed man
enters on the Sabbath and the demon speaks: “What business do you
have with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have You come to destroy us? I know
who You are: the Holy One of God!” (Mark 1:24). Jesus commands the
evil spirit to leave the man and the spirit cannot but obey. Jesus’ might
is displayed in the calming of stormy waves from a boat; He restores
sight to a blind beggar, brings life back to the deceased Lazarus,
extends cleanness and healing to the lepers, and feeds the hungry
mul tudes with a few sh and loaves.
