DAY Fifteen: December 12 - Monday
And what’s more, He forgives sins. One day Jesus is teaching and the
crowds are blocking the way for friends of a paraly c to get him before
Jesus in order for him to be healed. They open up a hole in the roof
and lower the man before Jesus who marvels at their determined faith.
Jesus’ response to the hope of healing? “Son, your sins are forgiven”
(Mark 2:5). This sparks controversy and concerns of blasphemy! “Who
but God and God alone can forgive sins?” (Mark 2:7). And then to
prove the point, Jesus asks which is easier: to forgive or to physically
heal a human? Jesus then heals the paraly c to prove that He, too,
forgives sins. As Mighty God He does both!
Healing, calming fears and forgiveness are all a signpost poin ng to
what this Mighty God is up to. He is bringing shalom to the earth again.
He overcomes the power of death in His resurrec on. He is the true
King who takes on and defeats the last enemy called death. And as the
King who is Mighty God, He shares that victory with His people. He will
rescue their life from oppression and violence…(Psalm 72:14). Yes!
Merry Christmas! Shalom!
