DAY Sixteen: December 13 - Tuesday
Our sin has alienated us from our Creator. We are, in a ma er of
speaking, exiled from where we should be. We should be at the
Father’s side. But we are not. Our sin is devasta ng to us. We are like
orphans.
Jesus comes into the world and to those who believed in His name, He
gave the right to become children of God (John 1:12). Tim Keller writes:
“If Christmas is just a nice legend in a sense you are on your own. But if
Christmas is true…then you can be saved by grace.” And you can
become a child of God.
In Christ, you are not an orphan. You are Someone’s child.
Think about that today.
❅FOR CONTEMPLATION:
Gala ans 4:6-7
❅FOR REFLECTION:
What are the a ributes of the best of fathers?
What does it mean to be an orphan?
What does it mean to be adopted?
Does being a child of God have any bearing on how one lives in the
world?
❅FOR PRAYER (ONE-MINUTE):
“Father, thank you for your presence. I know I am not alone in the
world. I know I am not ul mately at the mercy of the broken world. I
know you are ac ve in my life. Thank you for revealing yourself as the
ul mate Father.” (pause)
“May I be ever faithful to You as Your child. May everyone see You in
me.” (pause)
