Check the Rotational Positioning
of the Shuttle Race Guide Shaft

1. Remove the needle plate (p. 55, 18)
and feed dog (p. 61, 18).
2. Remove the bobbin case and bobbin, but
leave the retaining ring (p. 36, B) and gib hook
(p. 36, D) installed.

3. Rotate the balance wheel until the needle
enters the shuttle (74).
If positioned properly, the needle is centered
in the “triangular” opening of the retaining ring
cap spring from front to back (A).
4. Minor adjustments can be made by loosening
the two screws (B) to slide the cap spring
forward or back.

If more movement is required, you’ll need
to adjust the rotational positioning of the
shuttle race guide shaft (p. 54).
