HIGHLIGHTS
In order to better serve the health needs of San Diego communities, SYHealth invested in
multiple facility renovations and expansions as well as implementation of new programs and
services. These are some of our 2019 highlights:
Pediatrics expansion with a state-of-the-art suite at our
Maternal and Child Health Center (MCHC) in San Ysidro. The
expansion includes 13 additional exam rooms, reception
(waiting) area, immunizations room, a triage room, an isolation
room (i.e., for airborne infections) and a group visit room.
Funding awarded by the Teaching Health Center Graduate
Medical Education (THCGME) Program as one of five new
residency programs in the State of California and additional
funding by The Song-Brown program and Cal-Med Force. Our
ACGME-Accredited Internal Medicine Residency curriculum
and first class of residents are scheduled to begin in July 2020.
Officially an A.T. Still University School of Osteopathic
Medicine Arizona (SOMA) satellite learning facility to prepare
service-minded students to meet the health needs of medically
underserved communities. The first class of students are
scheduled for July 2020.
New Gender-Affirming Medicine and Sexual (GeMS)
Health Clinic in Chula Vista specializing in gender-affirming
medicine and sexual wellbeing to help close the gaps in health
care services for LGBTQ+ individuals.

San Diego PACE (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the
Elderly) expansion is the second fastest growing PACE site
in the State of California with 685 participants enrolled in 2019.
Future PACE sites include Chula Vista, East and North County.
Senior Day Center in Chula Vista officially opened in November
2019 as an alternative care site where current PACE participants
can enjoy recreational activities and meals on a daily basis.

Renovation of the Adult Medicine area at the San Ysidro

Successful implementation of the Health Homes Program

complex medical needs with enhanced comprehensive care
