Our hands-on Concrete Construction Technician program provides comprehensive training in
the concrete construction field. You will study everything from project site preparation and
safety, concrete forming, placing and finishing operations for vertical and horizontal concrete
construction, as well as mix design and trouble shooting. You will also gain drafting and
estimating skills.

Architectural design is the creation of construction documents for residential and
commercial structures through the use of building information modeling (BIM) designs.
Computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) is communication through the use of graphic
representation and creation of 3D designs. Our program combines drafting and design to
give students several options in their careers.

As a plumber, you will work in both commercial and residential settings to repair, install
and maintain plumbing fixtures and systems for drainage, heating, drinking, venting and
sewage. A large part of the job involves the ability to work with building blueprints to
assess layouts of plumbing systems and the water supply. In the v degree program, you
will gain a basic understanding of the components and operation of heating and cooling
equipment as well as some maintenance and troubleshooting.

commercial or industrial heating or ventilation, air conditioning, hydronic heating systems
or refrigeration equipment.

Program Description:
SCC has the only land surveying program in Nebraska, and its hands-on coursework will
prepare you to become a land surveying technician, civil CAD drafter or construction
materials inspector. Technicians survey the construction of streets, dams, bridges,
highways, airports and parks, as well as survey boundary locations of sub-divisions and
private and commercial property. You’ll learn GPS and GIS technology.

Program Description:
Those wishing to teach future generations of high school students are a fit for the
Technical Skills Instructor program. It’s designed specifically for those who want to
combine industry training with skills and technical science courses to earn a degree in
occupational studies. Each focus can be tailored to meet those needs. Students who
complete this program can transfer to the University of Nebraska–Lincoln to complete
requirements for a secondary teaching endorsement.
