launch IDAC because we firmly believe that what gets
measured gets done.
In addition to participating in the benchmarking study,
consortium members came together to collectively solve
problems and surface or share ideas that empower
companies to move more quickly in the right direction.
JP Morgan Chase has implemented a simple but impactful practice to inspire, promote and advocate
for diverse talent. The 30-5-1 commitment requires men and women to devote 36 minutes a week to lift
up female colleagues by spending 30 minutes mentoring a woman, 5 minutes to congratulate her on a
recent win, and 1 minute to verbally advocate for her to others.
Reverse mentoring programs enable senior leaders and execs to learn from diverse, rising stars
through thoughtful, one-to-one conversations. The duos can meet weekly or monthly for a
six-month period of time and then share their experiences and insights at a town hall meeting or
through another corporate communications channel.
Some of the actions are transformational, requiring effort,
time and resources to pursue.
Others could be activated by any company, as soon as
tomorrow, without investment. A few ideas are captured

Leo Burnett created a Kindness Committee. Executives are encouraged to host lunches with 8 to
12 people of culturally diverse backgrounds. Question cards are placed at every setting to guide
conversation and encourage dialogue.
L’Oreal has created “Think Tanks” as a strategic initiative, supported at the CEO level, with cross
functional participation. Leaders know that inclusion and diversity is a critical component of business
success. And they initiated this effort with high expectations that employees will generate strong ideas
to drive inclusion across the workforce, consumer and community, along with allies who also want to
support the work.
