For Your Convenience
Mail
Our volunteers deliver mail to patient rooms on
a regular basis. Mail that arrives here following
your discharge will be forwarded to your home
address. To mail an item during your stay with
us, drop it off at the nursing station on your
unit, the Information Desk in the front lobby, or
the mailbox located outside the entrance of the
Medical Center. Please make sure your outgoing
mail has been correctly addressed and stamped.
You may purchase stamps at the hospital mail
room on the ground floor of the East Wing.
Flowers
Our staff bring flowers directly to patient rooms
as soon as possible after they are delivered to the
Medical Center. To safeguard our patients, there
are times when flowers are not allowed in a
patient’s room.
Balloons
Balloons are welcome in most areas of the
Medical Center. Only Mylar (metallic-looking)
balloons are allowed because of the risks
associated with latex rubber balloons (e.g., latex
allergies, swallowing, and choking).
Interpreter Services
Our staff is committed to communicating
clearly and comprehensively with all patients
about their medical status and care. We do
our best to accommodate the communication
needs of our non-English speaking patients and
their families. If you need an interpreter while
staying with us, please inform your nurse.
For the Hard of Hearing
SVHC utilizes certified sign language
interpreter services for the deaf and hard
of hearing to ensure communication for
understanding, informed consent, and shared
decision making regarding your health care
services. We have a sign language interpreter
service available by live video. A portable
