William Young
An ever-vibrant and energetic individual, Katie was a
valued member of the SVHC Foundation community
for 25 years. Serving long tenures on both the
Regional Advisory Board and Foundation Board, she
also chaired the annual Jingle Bell to great success
and praise, earning the rightful title of ”Queen of the
Jingle Bell.” An avid outdoors woman, she skied, biked,
and rode horses whenever and wherever she had the
chance. In between adventures and raising two boys,
she managed to start Vermont‘s first country music
radio station and founded Vermont Wood Pellet.
ROBERT “BOB” G. MCCAFFERT Y
A member of the Northshire Regional Advisory Board for eight
years and a loyal champion of SVHC, Bob never shied away
from letting others know how fortunate our community was to
have access to the exceptional care offered throughout the
system. After a successful career in real estate in Vermont and
New Jersey, Bob and his wife Nancy (who he met in 4th grade)
chose to make Dorset their full-time and final home. In addition
to giving generously of his time to SVHC, Bob was involved with
Merck Forest and the Southern Vermont Arts Center.
THOMAS D. STEFFEN
A pastor of the Second Congregational Church in Bennington
for nearly 30 years, Tom was a well-known and always welcome
individual in the community. In addition to serving on the
Bennington School Board, and Oldcastle Theatre Company, Tom
served on the SVHC Board of Trustees from 1984–2006. His
contributions and passion for the community of Bennington
were recognized in 2010 when he received the Vision Award for
Distinguished Community Service. Always looking ahead and
out for everyone, Tom was a member of the Henry W. Putnam
Circle, thus continuing to support SVHC even after his time here
on earth had ended.
