Expanding the number of Jewish seniors we serve
was one of the goals identified through our strategic
planning. To further our commitment to enhance
general accessibility to our housing, programming,
and services, we have formed a Financial Assistance
task force. This team creates policies and procedures
to guide our anticipated comprehensive financial
assistance program.

Our pocket of greatness: the embodiment of mindfulness, humility, and a growth mindset that
ensures mission success, upholds our philosophy of leadership, and generates goodwill.
Currently, we serve and support seniors in need of longterm care through our six Medicaid beds in The Legacy
Willow Bend healthcare center. The Legacy at Home
continues to expand our reach beyond the walls of our
continuing care communities, serving seniors in their
own homes. This past year, our personal assistance
services division provided approximately 135,000 hours
of service, including 6,200 philanthropic grant hours to
those in need without the ability to pay.
In 2019, we welcomed Rabbi Michael Cohen into our
Legacy family as the Director of Rabbinic Services and
Pastoral Care. In just a few short months, he’s made
a tremendous impact on our community through
religious services and programming, employee
education, and pastoral support to our residents, their
families, and staff, regardless of religious affiliation.
We saw tremendous progress in the construction of our
new campus—The Legacy Midtown Park—the state-ofthe-art, market-rate rental community located in the
heart of the Dallas Jewish community.
The Legacy Willow Bend continues to be a premier
Life Care, entry-fee retirement community for seniors
in North Dallas and surrounding areas. The facility is
currently at, or near, full capacity in all of our lifestyles,
which is impressive for any market. And now, through
our new hospice service line, launched this past spring,
LSC can now offer a true, full continuum of care.
As you can see, much has been accomplished this past
year, but there is much left to do. I want to thank The
Legacy trustees, staff members, business partners, and
peer organizations for their dedication and expertise.
It is through working together that we are able to keep
pace in this ever-changing industry and ensure that we
are able to meet the growing wants and needs of our
Greater Dallas Jewish seniors.

In this, our first-ever annual report, we celebrate the
many milestones of our most recent fiscal year and
look ahead to the upcoming year and beyond. Early in
2018, we embarked on an organizational development
initiative to create a central mission statement and a
set of organizational values to guide all Legacy entities.
