Mezuzah For Your New Home
A Mezuzah is a parchment which we affix to
our doorposts, on which a scribe has hand
written two paragraphs from the Torah. G-d
states that great rewards await those who
observe the Mitzvot including prosperity,
success and long life.
To fulfill the Mitzvah of a Mezuzah
properly and to have its protection, three
parts of the Mitzvah must be fulfilled.
1. It must be written properly by a certified
scribe.
2. It must be properly inspected by certified
professional examiners.
3. It must be properly installed.
Once a Mezuzah is put up, it must remain up. The
Mezuzah should be rolled carefully from the left side to
the right. It should then be placed into the case so that the
letters are facing outside and on top. The case should then
be affixed to the right side of the doorpost on the entrance
side of the room and slanted top-side inwardly.
Before affixing the Mezuzah, the following Bracha should
be made: Boruch Ato A-do-nai Elo-heinu Melech
Ho-olom asher kidshonu b’mitzvotov v’tzivonu likboa
Mezuzah.
