TSPS to be the organization whose members will occupy the list
of great Texas surveyors. I am honored to have the opportunity
to learn from our current membership.
WHAT IS YOUR MOST MEMORABLE SURVEYING MOMENT?
HOW/WHY DID YOU GET INTO SURVEYING?
In 2002, I had been working on the family ranch and farms for
a few years and decided to try a “real “job outside the family
business and try my hand at working for a land development
company in Kerrville. I was able to work for several surveyors
through that company and really got hooked on the history of
Texas development and the role of the surveyor. In 2007 I took
an opportunity to survey and 昀椀nish a degree in Geology at the
University of Hawaii at Hilo. After graduating in 2010, I moved
back to the ranch in Brady, took a position as a survey tech in
San Angelo, and was able to teach a few courses at DCCC, Garland campus in my spare time. I met my wonderful wife in 2011
and convinced her to move from the big city of Dallas to my
hometown of Brady. Marriage and children boosted my drive to
get my Texas RPLS. I achieved licensure in 2016 and started my
partnership in our 昀椀rm.
Too many to pick one.
Finding original county boundary markers on the Concho,
Tom Green, McCulloch, and San Saba County lines. (2014)
Trying to keep up with a 77-year-old, Joe Sisneros NMPLS,
surveying across the Anton Chico land grant in New Mexico.
(2005)
Surveying a large ranch in Presidio County, and camping on
the ranch, the lights of Presidio and Ojinaga, Mexico in the valley were very bright and memorable.

I started a琀琀ending TSPS courses to help study for the RPLS
and connect with other surveyors. My 昀椀rst course to a琀琀end
was the Heart of Texas Boundary Retracement Seminar just
outside of my hometown of Brady. Listening to the stories
from Smyth, Thomson, Goodson, and several others, I knew
I needed to always con琀椀nue learning and that the TSPS was
the premier resource for Texas surveying educa琀椀on.
I have and hope to continue to learn about the profession
through the TSPS. I thrive on the stories and work of the great
Texas surveyors with names that strike a note of heightened
attention, such as J.J. Goodfellow, T.W. Twitchell, H.L. George,
W.C. Wilson, O.W. Williams, and J.J. Giddings. I believe the
