Bible Journ aling
DID YOU HEAR FROM GOD AS YOU READ YOUR BIBLE?
Did God leave an impression on your heart? Write it down. Draw it.
Splash the message across the page or in the margin and express
your faith creatively. Whatever you do, be sure to capture it in your
Bible so you can remember it. You can even date your entries like you
would in a journal. Say or write a prayer, and thank God for speaking
to you through his Word.
DO YOU FEEL CHALLENGED TO TAKE ACTION IN RESPONSE
TO WHAT YOU’VE READ? Write out a prayer about what God is
asking you to do. Journal about it. Creatively express it on the page.
Identify a next step and follow through with it. Come back to that page
later on and add a tip-in with an update about how God worked in or
through you in that situation. (A tip-in is an extra sheet of paper that
can be cut into any shape or size you’d like.) You can use any type of
paper for a tip-in—even scraps of paper you find around the house or
in junk mail. Be creative! If you want your entry to be private, write on
the side that will be face down. Then tape it into your Bible using
decorative tape or an adhesive. If you use your imagination, you’ll find
all kinds of fun things around the house to express your faith and
worshipful praise in your journaling Bible.
DO YOU NEED SOMETHING FROM GOD IN ORDER TO
ACCOMPLISH WHAT HE HAS ASKED YOU TO DO? Say a
prayer and ask God to help you trust him with the thing he’s asked
you to do. Remember that God is with you always and that he will help
you through it. If God brings a word to mind—for example, strength or
wisdom—you can spell that word (or even a phrase) out on your page
using stickers, draw it artistically, or practice writing it in beautiful
hand lettering. Do you need more peace, joy, courage, or patience?
Something else? Let God know.

DID A PARTICULAR VERSE STAND OUT TO YOU THAT YOU’D
LIKE TO REMEMBER? Write it out. Draw it. Use your creativity to
display the verse on the page. Meditate on the verse and commit it to
memory so you carry Scripture in your heart everywhere you go. You
will be ready when you need that reminder!
DO YOU HAVE QUESTIONS ABOUT WHAT YOU READ, OR
DID YOU LEARN SOMETHING NEW? Jot it down. Do a deeper
study about your question. Talk with someone about what you’ve
learned or the questions you have. You’re on a journey, so enjoy your
time in God’s inspired Word. Invite friends or family members to join
you too.
