Chronological Life Application Study Bible Sampler - Book - Page 2
Introducing the
Chronological Life Application
Study Bible
The Bible is the story of God’s interaction with his creation. It is a story that occurs
over time, in many places, and through many events. It includes the lives and lessons
learned by a wide variety of people and in a wide variety of cultures. It’s often easy to
lose sight of all this when our primary way of looking at the Bible is a bit here and a
bit there. The Chronological Life Application Study Bible offers a unique perspective.
Combining the proven resources of the Life Application Study Bible with a unique
chronological arrangement, the Chronological Life Application Study Bible offers an
unprecedented window into God’s story – yesterday and today. The following pages
are a sneak peak at what you are going to find; there’s a whole lot more to come.
section Introductions: These section introductions will help you understand the context for the
given time periods. They combine fresh writing, material from the Life Application Study Bible (LASB) book
introductions, and timelines from the NLT Study Bible (NLTSB) section introductions, along with newly
created maps. The following outline will be used:
JJ
Beginnings (creation–2100 BC)
God’s Chosen Family (2100–1800 BC)
Birth of Israel (1800–1406 BC)
Possessing the Land (1406–1050 BC)
United Monarchy (1050–930 BC)
Charts, Maps, Diagrams, Photos: We will include the LASB charts and maps in an updated fullcolor format. Additionally, we will include photos, where appropriate, for greater contextual understanding
and to highlight important passages. These images will sometimes offer glimpses at historical artifacts or
artwork related to a passage, and at other times will offer contemporary applications for the verses illustrated. (See pages 6, 20-21)
JJ
JJ archaeological notes: These notes will largely be adapted from the Tyndale Bible Dictionary and
will have an application focus whenever possible. This feature also incorporates a Bible “life and times”
approach and includes photos of geographic locations in order to further facilitate understanding and
application for the contemporary reader. (See page 11)
newly Commissioned artwork: This Bible will include a brand new set of full-color, detailed
illustrations of the Tabernacle, the Temple, the city of Jerusalem, and more. (Not shown)

running Outline: This textual outline will combine the running outline of the LASB with a chronological outline and sub-heads to maximize contextual understanding, especially crucial given that the reader
will be moving back and forth through various books, often in rapid succession.
JJ
transition notes: These brief notes, connected to the first- and second-level headings in the running outline, are transitional statements to aid the reader in understanding the continuity and flow of the
text. These notes will be used to signify the start of a book, a change in time or place, or a shift in narrative
flow (for example, when a prophet and historical book intersect). (See page 9)
JJ
Chronological survey of the Bible: This feature will be split into two sections, and will incorporate
materials from the individual Bible books. One section will cover the OT and will be positioned just prior to
