A lazy person’s way is blocked with briers,
but the path of the upright is an open
Commit your actions to the LORD,
and your plans will succeed.
Sensible children bring joy to their father;
foolish children despise their mother.

for his rule is built on justice.

but he hears the prayers of the righteous.
A cheerful look brings joy to the heart;
good news makes for good health.
The anger of the king is a deadly threat;
the wise will try to appease it.
If you listen to constructive criticism,
you will be at home among the wise.
When the king smiles, there is life;
his favor refreshes like a spring rain.
If you reject discipline, you only harm
but if you listen to correction, you grow
How much better to get wisdom than gold,
and good judgment than silver!
The path of the virtuous leads away from
whoever follows that path is safe.
Fear of the LORD teaches wisdom;
humility precedes honor.
Pride goes before destruction,
and haughtiness before a fall.
Better to live humbly with the poor
than to share plunder with the proud.
Those who listen to instruction will
those who trust the LORD will be joyful.

15:31-32 If we really want to learn and grow, we must be willing to be held accountable by receiving
constructive criticism from others (see 10:8; 13:18; 15:5; 25:12). It is hard for many of us to receive
reproof because even when it is shared in love, it hurts. Our tendency may be to ignore correction to avoid
being hurt by such criticism. We would be wise to ask for feedback from people we respect. That way we
will learn from our mistakes and grow in maturity.
