WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS ABOUT:
Excellence
+ FOCUS ON WHAT’S IMPORTANT
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of
witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that
slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And
let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do
this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates
and perfects our faith. HEBREWS 12:1-2
+ EXCELLENCE COMES
FROM WISDOM
Listen as Wisdom
calls out!
Hear as
understanding
raises her
voice! . . .
“Listen to me! For I
have important
things to tell you.
Everything I say is
right,
for I speak the truth
and detest every
kind of deception.
My advice is
wholesome.
There is nothing
devious or
crooked in it.
My words are plain
to anyone with
understanding,
clear to those with
knowledge.”

+ THINK ABOUT WHAT IS EXCELLENT
And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing.
Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable,
and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable.
Think about things that are excellent and worthy
of praise. Keep putting into practice all you learned
and received from me—everything you heard from
me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will
be with you. PHILIPPIANS 4:8-9
+ TURN AWAY FROM EVERYTHING ELSE
I once thought these things were valuable, but now I
consider them worthless because of what Christ has
done. Yes, everything else is worthless when compared
with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my
Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else,
counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ
and become one with him. PHILIPPIANS 3:7-9
+ GOD SETS A HIGH STANDARD
[Jesus:] “When someone has been given much,
much will be required in return; and when
someone has been entrusted with much, even
more will be required.” LUKE 12:48
