Courage continued
Courage to stand firm in our convictions comes from understanding where our true loyalties lie. If you are more concerned about what others think than about what God thinks,
you will find yourself lacking courage and wavering in your faith.
Are there consequences to courage?
• L U K E 2 3 :2 3 -2 4 | And their voices prevailed. So Pilate sentenced Jesus to die as they
demanded. (See note on page 948.)
Standing up for what is right can get you in trouble with corrupt people. But failing to stand
up for what is right can get you in trouble with God.
PROMISE FROM GOD
• J O S H U A 1 :9 | “Be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord
your God is with you wherever you go.”
Creativity

HelpFinder
Creativity is a fashioning, shaping, or conceiving of something unique. We admire creativity and are thrilled when we can exercise it. God is the greatest example of creativity,
for he was wildly creative in making the universe. God also re-creates us by transforming
us on the inside when we become Christians and the Holy Spirit comes into our lives.
Creativity has so many expressions it would be impossible to even begin listing them
here. God’s creative expression is an example to us to use our creativity in ways that
glorify and praise him.
How did God create the universe? What did he do to make it?
• G E NE S I S 1 :3 | Then God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.
• H E B R E W S 1 1 :3 | We understand that the entire universe was formed at God’s command,
that what we now see did not come from anything that can be seen. (See note on page 1117.)
We make things with our hands, as directed by our minds. God simply spoke a command
and made the universe.
What is the most amazing part of all God’s creation?
• PSA L M 1 3 9 :1 3 -1 4 | You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me
together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your
workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it. (See note on page 553.)
The work of creation became increasingly complex until God finally made a person—
a thinking, spiritual being in his own image.
• 2 C O R I NT H I A NS 5 :1 7 | Anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old
life is gone; a new life has begun!
Equally amazing as the creation of human beings is how each of us can become new
inside when we believe in Jesus and invite the Holy Spirit to live within us. We are literally
transformed so that we can have close fellowship with God and be worthy enough to enter
his eternal Kingdom.
For what purpose are we to be creative? Why did God create creativity?
• E PH E S I A NS 2 :1 0 | He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he
planned for us long ago.
• PSA L M 7 1 :2 2 | Then I will praise you with music on the harp. . . . I will sing praises to you
with a lyre.
• PSA L M 7 8 :7 2 | He cared for them with a true heart and led them with skillful hands.
God made us creative so that we could express ourselves in a multitude of different
ways—we’re able to worship, to sing, to love, to help, to play music, to make things, to
think through problems. But each expression of our creativity needs to be God-honoring,
