• J A ME S 2 :1 -4 , 9 | My dear brothers and sisters, how can you claim to have faith in
our glorious Lord Jesus Christ if you favor some people over others? . . . doesn’t this
discrimination show that your judgments are guided by evil motives? . . . But if you
favor some people over others, you are committing a sin. You are guilty of breaking
the law.
The church should care for others by focusing on their needs, not their status; then it will
not show favoritism.
How is there equality in marriage?
• 1 C O R I NT H I A NS 1 1 :1 1 -1 2 | But among the Lord’s people, women are not independent of
men, and men are not independent of women. For although the first woman came from
man, every other man was born from a woman, and everything comes from God.
• E PH E SI A NS 5 :2 2 -3 3 | For wives, this means submit to your husbands as to the Lord. . . .
For husbands, this means love your wives, just as Christ loved the church. He gave up his
life for her to make her holy and clean, washed by the cleansing of God’s word. . . . As the
Scriptures say, “A man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two
are united into one.” This is a great mystery, but it is an illustration of the way Christ and
the church are one. So again I say, each man must love his wife as he loves himself, and
the wife must respect her husband.
How should there be equality in my relationships?
• MAT T H E W 7 :1 -2 | “Do not judge others, and you will not be judged. For you will be treated
as you treat others. The standard you use in judging is the standard by which you will be
judged.”
• A C T S 1 0 :2 8 | Peter told them, “You know it is against our laws for a Jewish man to enter
a Gentile home like this or to associate with you. But God has shown me that I should no
longer think of anyone as impure or unclean.”
Be careful not to stand in judgment of other people. You may not know all the facts or their
circumstances. Just as you would not want others to constantly assess and evaluate you,
refrain from doing it to others.
PROMISES FROM GOD
• E PH E SI A NS 2 :1 8 | Now all of us can come to the Father through the same Holy Spirit
because of what Christ has done for us.
• R O MA NS 3 :2 2 | We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this
is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are.

Since the fall of mankind, the earth has not known a time without the influence of evil.
We face an enemy far more powerful than any human foe. That enemy is Satan, the very
embodiment of evil. His goal is to overcome good with evil in your life and in the world.
Although we cannot visibly see Satan and his demons, we can see the destruction he
causes in people’s lives. Satan uses all sorts of tactics to try to take us as prisoners to

Husbands and wives are created equal. Although God has assigned different roles and
responsibilities to husbands and wives, both have equal value and both are worthy of
equal honor.
