• J E R E MI A H 2 2 :3 | “This is what the Lord says: Be fair-minded and just. Do what is right!
Help those who have been robbed; rescue them from their oppressors.”
Anticipating the complete fairness that will govern life in eternity can help motivate you to
model that perfect standard as best as you can in this life.
• Z E C H A R I A H 8 :1 6 | “But this is what you must do: Tell the truth to each other. Render
verdicts in your courts that are just and that lead to peace.”
• PR O VE R B S 1 2 :2 2 | The Lord detests lying lips, but he delights in those who tell the truth.
The more you tell the truth and treat others fairly, the more you experience peace of mind
and heart.
How should I respond when life isn’t fair?
• E Z E K I E L 1 8 :2 5 | “Yet you say, ‘The Lord isn’t doing what’s right!’ Listen to me, O people of
Israel. Am I the one not doing what’s right, or is it you?’
Don’t blame God for the unfairness of other people.
• E C C L E S I A S T E S 9 :1 1 | The fastest runner doesn’t always win the race, and the strongest
warrior doesn’t always win the battle. The wise sometimes go hungry, and the skillful are not
necessarily wealthy. And those who are educated don’t always lead successful lives.
• PSA L M 3 7 :2 8 | The Lord loves justice, and he will never abandon the godly. He will keep
them safe forever.
Your ultimate vindication will be through God’s efforts, not your own.
PROMISE FROM GOD

them safe forever.

Faith is more than just believing; it is trusting our very lives to what we believe. For
example, we can believe that someone can walk across a deep gorge on a tightrope.
But are we willing to trust that person to carry us across? Faith says yes. Faith in God
says that we are willing to trust God with our very lives. We are willing to follow his
guidelines for living as outlined in the Bible because we have the conviction that this
will be best for us. We are even willing to endure ridicule and persecution for our faith
because we are so sure that what we believe is true and that the Christian life is what
is best for us eternally.
Faith seems so complicated; how can I ever get it? Why does it seem so
confusing sometimes?
• 1 C O R I NT H I A NS 2 :1 4 | But people who aren’t spiritual can’t receive these truths from
God’s Spirit. It all sounds foolish to them and they can’t understand it, for only those who
are spiritual can understand what the Spirit means.
Confusion is often the direct result of not knowing God and being tossed about by whatever seems good to you at the time. The line between right and wrong is not clear, and
you’re not even sure if it should be. That’s confusing.
• 2 C O R I NT H I A NS 4 :3 -4 | If the Good News we preach is hidden behind a veil, it is hidden
only from people who are perishing. Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the

It is true that life is not always fair. Expected results don’t always happen the way you
thought. But if you look around, you will realize that many others are a lot worse off than
you, and you have much to be grateful for. If your life has been particularly hard, there is
great hope in knowing that this life isn’t the end. God promises to make all things right
and fair for eternity to those who love and follow him.

• I SA I A H 9 :7 | His government and its peace will never end. He will rule with fairness and
justice from the throne of his ancestor David for all eternity.
