God faithfully does what he says he will do. As you read the Bible, you will discover myriad
promises God has already fulfilled. When you read the promises yet to be fulfilled, you can
count on God’s faithfulness to fulfill them because he always does just what he says.
What are the rewards of faithfulness?
• L U K E 1 9 :1 7 | “You have been faithful with the little I entrusted to you, so you will be
governor of ten cities as your reward.”
• R E VE L AT I O N 2 :1 0 | “If you remain faithful even when facing death, I will give you the
crown of life.” (See note on page 1152.)
Staying faithful, even to the point of death, brings great rewards in heaven.
How does my faithfulness affect others?
• I SA I A H 3 8 :1 9 | Each generation tells of your faithfulness to the next.
It is both the privilege and obligation of each generation to reveal to the next the faithfulness of our God. We can leave a rich heritage by building this awareness in the minds
of our children and grandchildren and circle of friends and neighbors. This is of far more
lasting value than any other kind of inheritance we might leave behind.
How do I know if God is starting to do important work in my life?
• Z E C H A R I A H 4 :1 0 | “Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the
work begin.” (See note on page 846.)
What may seem insignificant to you could be seen by God as a great beginning. New
beginnings, no matter how small, that move us toward a life of greater faithfulness, are
welcomed by God.
How do I handle betrayal—when someone hasn’t been faithful to me?
• 2 T I MOT H Y 2 :1 3 | If we are unfaithful, he remains faithful, for he cannot deny who he is.
(See note on page 1099.)
When others are unfaithful to us, we remain faithful. Otherwise, we become as faithless as
they are.
